Dr. Herbert S. Feinberg

Dr. Feinberg was born in New York City, attended public primary and high schools there, and then received degrees from Cornell University and Seton Hall College of Medicine. After a one-year internship at Brookdale Medical Center in Brooklyn, he served 2 years as a medical officer in the U.S. Air Force. After his military service, he received his dermatology training at NYU-Skin & Cancer Hospital and the Bronx VA/NY Hospital-Cornell residency programs.
He entered private practice in Bergen County, NJ, became board-certified in dermatology, and began a successful practice, specializing in cosmetic procedures.
While a dermatology resident, he was mentored by Dr. Norman Orentreich, who developed the hair transplant procedure in the United States. Dr. Orentreich’s interest in all aspects of cosmetic dermatology influenced Dr. Feinberg as well as many of the physicians whom he taught.
Dr. Feinberg became one of the pioneers in the practice of hair transplant surgery. His book, All About Hair, published by Simon & Schuster created interest among physicians interested in performing hair transplants, as well as a valuable primer for potential patients.
He was one of the first physicians in the NY/NJ area to perform a hair transplant procedure using microscopic creation of small, more natural hair grafts. The development of the newer small graft extraction method was facilitated by the use of a novel robotic process. Dr. Feinberg was the first physician to use the Artas Robot in NJ which provided another option for creating a completely natural result for a patient having a hair transplant.
Dr. Feinberg was an investigator for the company that created collagen injections as a facial filler, and he became a pioneer in this field. He now uses the newer fillers that offer more and better enhancement results. He was one of the first to use Botox and lasers to provide even more options for cosmetic skin treatments.
Because of his beliefs that dermatology is a medical specialty devoted to making people look and feel better about themselves, Dr. Feinberg was one of the first physicians to combine his medical practice with a full-service Beauty Spa. His Dermatology Center in Englewood, NJ combines a dermatology, plastic surgery and podiatry practice with a Spa offering a wide variety of services for skin, hair, nails and body treatments. Today, Medi-spa establishments can be found in most communities in this country.
